Paddle Holder Kits using bungees are preferred over clips for two reasons. First, the cord accommodates any size paddle or fishing rod. Secondly, the cord hugs the side and won’t interfere with paddling, like a clip might. The Carlisle model is as good as any and retails for $15. Kits include a shock cord, two strap eyes, two lash hooks, and rivets for the installation. Directions are clear and I installed mine in a few minutes, thus defeating the only argument for clips, that they fit snugly into the recessed channel and don’t require drilling. Once you’ve installed a paddle holder, you’ll wonder how you got along without it.
