Eddyline Sandpiper Kayak Review

The Eddyline Sandpiper kayak is an excellent recreational kayak for paddlers of any skill level. If you are a novice paddler, the Sandpiper is a high quality and versatile kayak that is easy to paddle and will grow with you as your skills are enhanced. For a seasoned kayaker, the quality and light weight of the Eddyline Sandpiper will be a refreshing reward for all the years of paddling you have under your belt. With the perfect mix of luxury, performance, and maneuverability, the Sandpiper is the perfect sit inside recreational kayak for anyone looking to have fun on the water.

Performance Review

The Eddyline Sandpiper kayak is an amazingly constructed kayak. Eddyline is world famous for their high quality thermoformed designs, and this translates into one of the lightest and easiest to maneuver recreational kayaks on the market. The Sandpiper also features incredible acceleration, and certainly has enough stability in the water to act as an excellent fishing kayak.

Versatility Review

While the Sandpiper kayak excels in flatwater and light surf, I was really surprised at its abilities in whitewater conditions along the river. Snap a spray skirt on the Eddyline Sandpiper kayak, and you’re ready for almost anything the water serves you! This kayak can be paddled in almost any body of water or in any weather conditions you may run into making it one of the most versatile kayaks I’ve paddled.

Cargo Space Review

With plenty of storage space and a 350lb. capacity, the Sandpiper proves itself to be a viable kayak for light touring situations. Two hatches provide waterproof storage behind either bulkhead, and the rear hatch is large enough to accommodate camping equipment such as a small tent.

Portability Review

Although the Eddyline Sandpiper kayak clocks in at a whopping 12’ long, the advanced thermoform construction keeps the weight at a mere 38lbs. This is amazing, since most 9’ kayaks weigh nearly 40lbs. and don’t offer nearly as much stability as the 12’ Sandpiper.  Foot-for-foot and pound-for-pound, the Eddyline Sandpiper kayak is the most portable 12’ kayak you will find.

Overall Review

My overall review of the Eddyline Sandpiper kayak is a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. This kayak proves that sometimes you get what you pay for. With an MSRP of $1349, the Sandpiper may be a little too pricey for the average paddler. However, what you are getting for your money is a kayak that exceeds all expectations and is built so incredibly well that it’s sure to last you a lifetime.

I totally diagree. The last time I was in an Eddyline, if felt like the plastic seat was jutting into my lower spine. One of the most uncomfortable kayak brands I’ve ever been in. I guess I haven’t been in the Sandpiper yet, but I’m sure its the same crappy plastic seats. Wilderness Systems all the way!

First off, if you happen to have a different preference when it comes to the contours of the seat, that’s one thing. However, to condem an entire product line because of one feature is just plain silly. Most kayak seats are plastic and widely considered uncomfortable, but those of us with REAL kayaking experience know that you can buy a high quality seat pad that can easily be moved from kayak to kayak. Why invest in a kayak seat that is stationary in one boat when you could invest in one that can always be utilized, whether you buy a new kayak or are just increasing the size of your collection.

I really love this kayak! Eddyline always make the best kayaks on the market. The Sandpiper model super versatile, amazingly agile, and won’t break your bank. If you’re looking for a super high quality kayak, you really can’t go wrong with these guys.
