Old Town’s Guide family combines stability with durability, and throws in affordability for good measure. Its cross-section and stabilizing chines are meant to secure fishing or nature-watching paddlers, while its sharp entry adds efficiency. The Guide 147 is a three-layer polyethylene canoe available in red or green. It sports polyethylene decks with grab handles, an ash carrying yoke, black vinyl gunwales, and black blow-molded seats.
A simple canoe for simple canoeing, the Guide 147 is not meant for high technical achievement. Too heavy to portage easily, it doesn’t allow for enough of a load to make long trips. Instead, it excels at taking the work out of paddling, letting its passengers enjoy the water securely without making a grand investment.
